Studio XX is hosting a series of workshops based on open source tools for artistic creation. The series starts with an introduction to the Linux operating system then focuses on practical software for graphics and audio processing along with 3D imaging. Studio XX seeks to educate 12 artists about the Linux operating system so they can produce their artwork using Open Source tools.
1) Linux Course (12h)
These sessions will demystify the Linux operating system and expand on free software. Throughout the course participants will learn to configure and adapt their operating system and install the free software they require for their production needs, such as Ubuntu Studio. They will also be a session on [Dyne]Bolic (a Live CD Linux distribution with a focus on multimedia production). The course will consist of demonstrations, practical lectures and independent work.
2) Digital and Photographic image processing with The GIMP (9h)
Introduction to digital and photographic image manipulation with The GIMP. The course will consist of demonstrations, practical lectures and independent work.
3) Modeling and Animation with Blender 3D (12h)
Introduction to modeling, animation and rendering with Blender 3D. The course will consist of demonstrations, practical lectures and independent work.
4) Digital audio processing and production with Ardour (12h)
Introduction to digital audio processing and production. Participants will learn to import, mix and record audible media with Ardour. The course will consist of demonstrations, practical lectures and independent work.
5) Introduction to dynamic website conception with Drupal (9h)
Introduction to Drupal. Equipped with a powerful blend of features, Drupal supports a variety of websites ranging from personal weblogs to large community-driven websites.
