This course will teach you how to create your own on-line art portfolio using the content management system (CMS) Indexhibit, an affordable (32$) content management system using PHP and a MySQL database.
With an index for navigating the site and an exhibition area to display your work, Indexhibit is a user friendly content management system to build and manage the content of your website.

The more websites that use this structure, the more archetypal / invisible the structure becomes, and the more emphasis is placed on the content.”
During this workshop, the instructor will help participants to install the site on the web server, organize documents in their portfolios and find the necessary information online in order to manage their own websites.
- Presentation of Indexhibit: what is a content management system – benefits and limitations. Introduce the specifics of Indexhibit.
- Installation: choosing a domain name, server space, other required software for website design, online resources. Installing the FTP and text editor.
- Configuring Indexhibit : functionality and the interface, data base and MySQL.
- Choice and adaptation of the theme: changes to CSS (Cascading Style Sheets), HTML, layout, possible design and menu styles. Formatting and publishing content: photographs, texts, sounds, movies, etc.
- Troubleshooting problems of formatting by searching forums. Class work with each participant.
- How to update content, migrate web sites from one server to another.
- Finalizing of projects. This workshop is designed to allow participants to fully complete their websites.
This course will be taught in french by a bilingual teacher.
Minimum 8 participants. This course is for beginners / intermediate.
