There will be a public discussion after the miraculous apparitions of Cœur déphasé; come visit the artist’s studios Helena Martin Franco (Cœur déphasé) and Andrée Anne Vien (Les lieux invisibles).

BIOS:
Helena Martin Franco was born in Cartagena in Colombia. She received her B.A. in visual arts at the Universidad Nacional de Bogota and is currently completing her Masters in Visual and Media Art at the Université du Québec à Montréal. Her interdisciplinary method combines the use of photography, video, performance art, painting and ceramics. She has taught visual arts at several Colombian universities and is actively involved in community organizations dedicated to popular education and art dissemination. Her work has been presented in New Zealand, Colombia, the United States, and also in artist-run centres across Quebec. Helena was an artist-in-residence at Studio XX in fall 2008 and currently lives and works in Montreal.

Andrée Anne Vien‘s art explores the representation of other cultures, as well as the nature of the discrepancy between a culture and how it is represented. Her project, Les lieux invisibles, is an installation piece that takes place in seven restaurants across Montreal; the restaurants serve ethnic cuisine from places the artist has never been. In 2006, she completed her Masters in Visual and Media Art at the Université du Québec à Montréal. Since then, she has done some traveling (Aix-en-Provence, Mexico, Burkina Faso) that has had a marked effect on the evolution of her art. Her work was recently shown at Dare-Dare, an artist-run multidisciplinary studio in Montreal. She has received grants from OQAJ, CIAM and the Fondation du Maire de Montréal pour la jeunesse. Andrée Anne lives and works in Montreal.
