Constructing sound situations in a satellite era! 2PM
« Audio/Dislocation » is an exploration which involves an auditor’s body and consciousness. At each step, the participant triggers soundtracks within the territory. Audio/Dislocation has been developed under the direction of Edith Normandeau in creative residency at Studio XX, and in collaboration with the Audiotopie collective.
Starting at Sherbrooke metro station, on level -1 of the purple zone, the audioguide will lead the auditor to Lafontaine Park, which will be converted into a vast field of psychogeographical operation.
During this introductory leeway, the auditor is brought through in-draught chambers, ambience rooms, wild places, damp areas and digital mazes, while making his way within repulsive or attractive territorial areas. Using this first experience, he will then have to construct situations within the park, to follow the landforms, the constant currents, the whirlpools, in other words to go with the land. Based on constraints and attractions arranged in triangular zones and in six interrelated themes, the auditor will have to freely activate his own sound composition, while piecing together media fragmentation in an immersive and liberating approach. This research-creation project is based on an iPhone and iPod Touch platform. Part of the “Audio/Dislocation” soundscapes was created using the Matricules archives from Studio XX.

Audio/Dislocation has been developed under the direction of Edith Normandeau in creative residency at Studio XX, and in collaboration with the Audiotopie collective including David Martin, who was also in a creative residency at Perte de Signal for this project. Edith Normandeau and Audiotopie would like to thank the Canada Council for the Arts for its financial support in the implementation of Audio/Dislocation.
This event is part of the Studio XX 15th anniversary programming.
