Alessia Canteros
Originally from Italy and Argentina, Alessia Canteros is an artist based in Tiohtià:ke / Moonyiang / Montreal. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Design with a specialization in Computation Arts from Concordia University (2020). Her multidisciplinary artistic approach touches on a range of tangible and digital mediums, and fosters an interest for materiality, collective sensory experiences, empathy and neurodiversity. Her work has been presented at L’Imprimerie (Montreal) Espacio Camargo (Buenos Aires), artch (Montreal), Art Volt (Montreal), Ada X (Montreal), Buddies in Bad Times Theatre (Toronto), Technoculture Art and Games (Montreal), VAV Gallery (Montreal) and Interfold Magazine (Montreal). Her work has been supported by the Canada Council for the Arts, the Conseil des arts de Montréal and the Elspeth McConnell Prize.
Alessia has been a member since 2020, after participating in an interactive performance and artist presentation, Take Heed: Mental Health and Wearable Development , as part of HTMlles 202: Slow Tech. She then followed our professional training in 3D modeling led by Anna Eyler. With a media arts practice in digital and interactive art, Alessia is experienced in graphic design, 3D modeling with Blender, 3D digital embroidery, metal casting, MIG welding, woodworking, printmaking, drawing, animation, video mapping, and electronic circuits with Arduino.
