Alison Loader

Filmmaker and 3d digital animation specialist, Alison Reiko Loader has been making short films independently and with the National Film Board of Canada since completing her award-winning first film Showa Shinzan in 2002. In 2010, she collaborated on a multi-projector stereoscopic installation about the Montreal Grey Nuns Chapel, and the following summer, presented a site-specific anamorphic video work called The Inquest of Mary Gallagher in Griffintown. Lately she has been re-animating laboratory-raised moths. A doctoral candidate in Communication Studies at Concordia University, Alison has taught part-time at the university in the Faculty of Fine Arts since 2001, and in Dawson College’s 3D Animation and CGI program since 2010. Her research interests include the creation of animated installations that combine old and new media, feminist science and technology studies, and nineteenth century visual culture.
