Andrée Anne Vien

Andrée Anne Vien's art explores the representation of other cultures, as well as the nature of the discrepancy between a culture and how it is represented. Her project, Les lieux invisibles, is an installation piece that takes place in seven restaurants across Montreal; the restaurants serve ethnic cuisine from places the artist has never been. In 2006, she completed her Masters in Visual and Media Art at the Université du Québec à Montréal. Since then, she has done some traveling (Aix-en-Provence, Mexico, Burkina Faso) that has had a marked effect on the evolution of her art. Her work was recently shown at Dare-Dare, an artist-run multidisciplinary studio in Montreal. She has received grants from OQAJ, CIAM and the Fondation du Maire de Montréal pour la jeunesse. Andrée Anne lives and works in Montreal.
