Annie Briard
Annie Briard is a Canadian artist holding a BFA from Concordia University (2008), currently undertaking an MA in media arts at Emily Carr University with a research grant from SSHRC. Her interdisciplinary practice encompasses a vast range of media including painting and drawing, video, animation, sculpture, performance, textiles and installation; her art is deeply rooted in the philosophy of being and environmental relationships and connections. Briard’s works have been featured locally and internationally, including Studio XX and Art Souterrain Festival in Montreal; the NFB mediatheque (Toronto), the White Rabbit Arts Festival, (Halifax), Three Shadows Photography Art Centre (Beijing, China) and eMerge Media Space (Townsville, Australia) amongst others. In 2011, Joyce Yahouda Gallery presented her solo exhibition “The Space in Between”. In 2012, Briard undertook an artist residency and exhibition at The Banff Centre resulting in the interactive stop-motion installation “The Woods”, presented at G++ Gallery in Victoria. In Fall 2012, she represented Canada at the World Event Young Artists symposium in England. Annie Briard is also on the board of directors for Studio XX artist run centre and Contraste Agence d’Art and is represented by Joyce Yahouda Gallery in Montreal.
