CERRUCHA

CERRUCHA is a Mexican visual artist based in Montreal since 2007. Her photography, video, and installation work aims to stimulate public dialogue on socially relevant themes, such as gender, multiculturalism, alterity, immigration, and the construction of social and personal identity. Striving to be provocative, her work engages the viewers in a way that leads them into a reflection about their self-perception as well as that of their surroundings. She intends to use art as a means to inspire change within society by focusing on public art interventions. She holds a BFA in Photography from Concordia University. Her backgrounds in sociology and industrial design often inspire her work both conceptually and technically. Her work has been exhibited nationally as well as internationally.
