Gio Olmos
Gio was born in Tenochtitlan (Mexico) and immigrated to Tiohtià:ke / Moonyiang (Montreal) at the age of 10. During their studies at Concordia University, they directed Silvia in the Waves (2017), which was featured in over 40 festivals. They then shot Dulce Hogar, which won the Best Foreign Director award at the BFI Future Film Festival in 2019. In 2020, their screenplay Windowpane received an award from the Writers Guild of Canada. In 2021, they were selected by the Canadian Academy of Cinema and Television as an emerging talent. They also collaborate with festivals and non-profit organizations as a project manager, grant writer, content creator, and accomplice.
