Jessica Blanchet

Jessica Blanchet recently finished her BFA with a major in Intermedia/CyberArts at Concordia University. Her work combines traditional, fiber-based crafts and low-tech electronics. With techniques such as card weaving and crochet, Jessica creates sculptural installation that blend in the surroundings, integrating sound and subtle movements in the work using simple circuits and
arduino.

She explores themes of relationships and the use of repetitive, labor intensive techniques as a meditative and reflection process.
Jessica is currently working as a research assistant at Concordia’s TAG lab where she’s making an interactive game with artists Lynn Hughes and Kaho Abe. She is developing experimental, wearable controllers.
