Laura U. Marks
Laura U. Marks works on experimental film, video, and new media. A frequent curator of screenings and electronic salons, she writes extensively for international art and academic journals. Her book The Skin of the Film: Intercultural Cinema, Embodiment, and the Senses is just out from Duke University Press. One of Marks’s sustaining interests is the materiality and ephemerality of all imaging media, and this has led her recently to examine the electronic basis of electronic media in “How Electrons Remember” (Millennium Film Journal, Fall 1999). She is Assistant Professor of Film Studies at Carleton University.
