Mél Hogan
Mél Hogan is doing a two-year Research Fellowship in Digital Curation in the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Colorado – Boulder.
In June 2012, Mél completed her research-creation PhD project (Video Cache) at Concordia University (Montréal, Canada), tracking the enduring ephemerality of Canada’s first large-scale online video art archive: its launch, crash, and recent revival. She continues to be interested in the failures of the (promise of the) archive, digital detritus, feminist media archaeologies, data storage centres, and the politics of preservation.
As a practitioner, aspects of these same issues are addressed through media arts interventions. Spring 2013, she’ll be teaching a hands-on/theory seminar called Research Archive: Aggregate. Curate. Disseminate.
Mél Hogan is also the art director of online and p.o.d. journal of arts and politics, nomorepotlucks.org on the advisory board of the Fembot collective; on the administrative board of Studio XX; a new curator for the Media Archaeology Lab, and a research design consultant for archinode.com.
