Nancy Anne McPhee

Nancy Anne McPhee is a textile installation artist originally from Alberta and now based between Montréal, QC, and Halifax NS. McPhee works with themes of knowledge, gender and biological bodies in large-scale drawings, silk trapunto quilt installations and theatrical performances. She has shown across North America in commercial galleries, artist run centres and public theatres, and has upcoming solo exhibition at the Canadian Lesbian and Gay Archives Gallery in Toronto and Lillstreet Art Center in Chicago. McPhee has worked as an instructor at Concordia University, a member of the Dukes of Drag queer performance troupe in Montréal and as the Vice-President of Trapdoor Artist Run Centre in Lethbridge, AB. She currently writes a monthly column for Trapdoor ARC newsletter and is preparing a Master’s thesis on the relationship between art libraries and studio artists.
