Valérie d. Walker aka Val TeQiiGaL is a radio-loving force of nature, alchemist, trans-media artist, curator, educator & faculty researcher @ TAG*/Hexagram-Fine Arts Research Facilities at Concordia University in Montréal, V teaches in the TAG-Maker space and explores tactile, wearable gaming interfaces. Leading XXFiles for 16+ years, Val TeQiiGaL! produces & hosts XX Files, the longest running feminist community radio show in Canada’s online digital archive: Matricules. V’s art-work blends analogue and digital medias, craft, circuits, environmentally beneficial processes, tactility, solar power, memory & storytelling in an Afro-Futuristic Griot-style. Valérie exhibits Trans-Media & Performative Installation art works in Canada and internationally and teaches software & surface design, material processes, fibres, computational arts (programming & electronics), radio, digital media & studio arts at all levels. V has a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering & Computer Science (S/W&H/W) from the University of California at Berkeley & MFA from the Nova Scotia College of Art & Design University (NSCAD U.) in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Her volunteer experience with artist run centres is diverse, currently V is an artist member of ELAN (english language arts network) – Québec’s, advisory board.
