Vanessa Matsui

Vanessa Matsui is an actor, improviser, director and writer. Selected acting credits include the critically acclaimed webseries The Bitter End, Cassie the teenage oracle in the Showcase series Lost Girl, and her directorial debut Callback (Winner, Best Short Film, Audience Choice ACTRA awards 2008), which she also co-wrote and starred in. Vanessa co-created the award winning theatre company WAKING THE GIRL. Their inaugural production, Fair(l)y (S)tale: a story unbound (written by A. Kellock), won the award for Best New Play at the Liverpool International Theatre Festival and was invited to tour Canada with the prestigious World Theatre Festival and Congress. This gave Vanessa the opportunity to meet teenage girls in rural communities, and dialogue with them about the challenges they confront in pursuing their dreams.
