Ximena Holuigue

Born in 1982 and chilean of origin, Ximena Holuigue lives and works in Montreal. BFA Graduate in Film Production and with a Minor in photography from Concordia University, she has taken part in the organization of various cultural events and festivals such as Art Matters, Pop Montreal, HTMlles, The Montreall Highlights Festival and the International Jazz Festival in Montreal. Since 2011, she is the programming coordinator of the artist-run centre Studio XX. Her practice as a multidisciplinary artist combines personal and commissioned projects through the use of photography, installation, crafts and intervention. Her work has been presented through exhibitions and residencies in Canada, the United States, France and more recently in Cuba. In recent years, her practice as a young curator and facilitator was defined in parallel to multiple trips in Havana. Since 2012, she has initiated interdisciplinary projects, screenings and musical exchanges, aiming to stimulate exchanges between the Cuban and Montreal’s cultural milieu.
